Weekend Update

Man, we had a crazy week! Lots of working, little sleeping. But its back to normal now, thank goodness!
Saturday we went with the Meases to see High School 3! Christian didnt go with us. He has to go see the movie with his girlfriend and couldnt bear to see it twice. Ha! I have to admit, Eva and I seemed more excited than the kids! I love movies, I love musicals, I love family time! And I have missed my children this week, it was nice to be with them. We went to Movie Tavern so that we could eat lunch while we watched the movie. We have found this is the best solution for squirmy children (Trinity!).
So here is my movie review: Each and every one of us (and we made Abe and Michael and my Dad go to the movie!) LOVED it! OK, hold on, all of the girls LOVED it. The boys agreed it was good and they were surprised at how much they liked it but I dont know if I should go as far as to say that they loved it. The choreography was awesome, WAY better than the first two. It was very cute.

High School Musical 3 Pictures, Images and Photos
Dont let Dylan fool you, he is not asleep. Just trying to maintain his cool and pretend to not be interested. Here are our awesome kiddos: Kylee, Trinity, Kaylee, Tyce, Dylan, Taylor
And here we are with my Dad ...because every grandparent should have to see at least one High School Musical!
Later that day, it was party time again! This time we celebrated Timothy and Naomi's birthdays. We moved the party up a week so that my Dad would be able to be here for it. So that left me less time to do their cakes and was at the end of the busiest week of the year for me. With that being said, I think they came out ok. And it was definitely worth it to have my Dad here with us! Timothy wanted Camo but his favorite color right now is Orange, so here is what I came up with...my attempt at camo

And then, of course, Naomi is a little princess! She had to have pink. Simple looking, but this was my first fondant bow and I think it came out ok. I just need a little more time to practice....
Sugar shock!! She loved the cake!
My favorite part of making cakes for kids is their faces when they see it for the first time. If their little eyes light up, I smile and know that I accomplished what I set out to do! Next cake I am working on is one for Kylee for her 13 birthday....we have come up with something adorable so lets hope I can make it happen! That will be in a few weeks.

Cheetah Time...Trinity's first blog

Last night I went to the Cheetah girls concert with my Grammy. It was awesome! We had awesome seats and we went with my friend Tabitha and her mom. I think my Grammy looks so pretty
My Dad got us backstage passes to meet the Cheetah girls. We got their autographs but they didnt really want us to take pictures but Tabithas mom took one at the end! They were nice
I liked their outfits and the dancing!

This part was cool. They came down in chandeliers

Mr Ty gave me a cheetah girls t shirt and a wristband and a glow stick that says Cheetah girls on it.
This is tabitha. She is cute!

This is at the end. there was a lot of confetti everywhere and I think they sang One world last. I hope the Jonas brothers come back soon

State Fair of Texas

On Tuesday, we all got up and went to the fair! A yearly tradition since we have lived in Texas. the rides are expensive and the food is ALL fried and gross (some of the new things this year were fried Jelly Bellys and fried lattes??) so we try to steer clear of that and enjoy the free things (I am my mothers daughter after all). We saw shows, animals, exhibits, a car show and, of course, Big Tex!

Trinity and Timothy got to compete in a Pee Wee Stampede. Very cute!

Timothy's first roller coaster!
Chores down on the farm!

Birthday Cake!

Saturday was my niece, Cali's, 3rd birthday party and Christian and I were asked to make the cake for the birthday girl! We love making cakes so we were very happy to be able to do it! Christian was a little bit busier than I was (with school and working on "his" car....be watching for pictures of that! It is looking really cool!) so he stepped in when he could to help. Now, I asked little Cali what she wanted her cake to look like to which she replied "Like.....................a cake!" Well that clearly took a lot of pressure off! I was very proud of myself for starting early...I made all of the layers almost a week before and kept them in the freezer.

Throughout the week, I put the pieces together one layer at a time. I made my own buttercream icing which was delicious, a tweaked version of the one I usually do. Trinity waits in the shadows and as soon as it is time to lick the bowl she appears like magic! This time, she was gonna have to fight me for it because it was so good! If you ever want the recipe, ask me....I jotted it down somewhere........
We also made fondant. I have finally found a fondant that I love and will continue to use. It is made with marshmallows! Here is Christian making some stripes.....we like to play with our food!

After all of the fondant is on, the buttercream icing is next.

Here is how she came out.....

The birthday girl was happy so we considered it a success!

Talent Show

Hi everyone! I guess this is turning into a video blog! Thanks
for all of the praise about the boys videos (through
comments, texts and in person)...it really got them excited
about making some more! They had no idea how many people
read the blog! So I think they will all blog a little more now.
Our most recent news is that Trinity and her two best friends
danced in their schools talent show again this year. They did
soooo well, especially considering they only had a few times
to practice. If you know my Trinity, you would know that a few
years ago she would have never taken the stage in front of a
few hundred people! She has really come out of her shell
(unless you are a handsome teenage boy! HAHA. Which
we are thankful for BTW) and really loves to perform. She
definitely did NOT get that from me!
This years talent show was a little more laid back, a little
more of what you would picture an elementary school talent
show to be.There were no auditions (there were last year!)
and no commentators (which I missed because Danielle White
did it last year and she ishysterical). But it was very cute!
Here is the video!

And just in case you missed last years, here is that one too!
Same girls, just a year older.
