Busy Brays

I am not doing very well at this blogging thing am I?
hmmmm....
I have several blogs that I have started sitting in the draft pile waiting to be finished and just haven't had the time to do it.
So here is some of what we have been up to recently..
Trinity and Dylan had a Race For Education day at their school. Some of you got letters in the mail from them about this fundraiser for their school. It was a huge success and raised a lot of money that goes directly into the school. The weather was perfect!

Trinity even got Daddy out there for a lap or two...
Then they got to play!

Eva and I worked on another cake together. This one for her husband, Abe. We were celebrating his 31st birthday!
An I phone cake with a few specialized apps....the third row is a Cigar App, a Nascar app, a Beer App and a Holy Bible App. We thought the combination of these apps was pretty funny....
Birthday boy didnt want to cut the cake, which means he liked it!
We all headed over to the brand NEW theater in town!! So exciting! It is soooo nice and less expensive than the others around us. We saw Star Trek, everyone else loved it! I liked it...but I have never actually seen the show so it wasn't as cool to me I suppose. I feel asleep a few times ;)
Saturday morning I made this cake for Michael's baby bro Lance's 30th bday. It was a surprise party and a Luau theme. Mom had her house decorated very nicely, felt like we were in Hawaii!

London likes my cupcakes!
So, what are the kids up to?
Well, Christian just bought an air compressor. I really have no idea what exactly that is but I know he uses it for tools that he has for his car. He was smart and patient and found this one for a great price on Craigs list...still includes a warranty even.
What he has been using the most is the airbrush set...just practicing on stuff.

Dylan has been consumed by a book report for the last few weeks. He read To Kill A Mockingbird and had to do a 10 minute presentation along with a 3 page summary, historical content paper and timeline with pictures. He loved the book! And we had to condense his presentation because the first time through he took 22 minutes!!
Thank goodness that is over and now the fun begins (Field Day, Awards Ceremony, end of the Year parties and Summer!! Yea!)
Also, his assignment for guitar this week is to write a song. Pretty cool, huh? His teacher is the coolest.

And Trinity...is just being Trinity :)
Our little social butterfly. She is getting ready for her upcoming dance recital on June 14th.

I am busy getting ready for the kids birthday parties this weekend..pictures of that soon!

In the Kitchen

Seems like we have been spending a lot of time in the kitchen lately!
Christian, Landry and I made pasta for the first time the other day! I got a pasta press for my birthday and had never used it. Shame on me. I wanted to and kept saying I was going to. We finally did! I recruited Christian and Landry and the teamwork began. It was actually easier than I thought! We definitely had to learn through trial and error but we did make pasta (spaghetti) and it was very tasty. I am sure we will get better each time...and I cant wait to do it again.

Trinity thoroughly enjoying the pasta!
Here are some cakes that I have done recently. Every time I make one, I learn something new and it gets a little easier. Once I am done, I cant wait to start a new one. Unfortunately, we cannot just eat cake all week long. So I must wait and only make cakes for special occasions (and apparantly Friday is not a special occasion)
A week ago, we hosted a birthday party for our kids two grandmothers, Grandma and Grammy. Their birthdays are less than a week apart. Christy and the kids came from Lousiana and Misty and the boys came from Oklahoma. Add the family members who already live here and it was quite a party! Here are the cakes.....
I wanted the Moms to each have their own cake so I made two.
Grandma had a triple chocolate and strawberry cake. Grammy's was a vanilla and strawberry.
I had some icing left over so I decorated some sugar cubes with flowers (that is what is in the middle on the plate).

This next one was for Kaylee Mease's 12th birthday. It was all triple chocolate cause chocolate is a girl's best friend...and sassy sweet cause that it just Kaylee!

You Think You Know but You Have No Idea

By doing this blog, we are letting you in on what happens in our day to day lives. This video is a real glimpse into just that.....
I have to give you some back story before you watch this.
So, the other night, Trinity had a friend over. Their favorite thing to do is to put on  "shows" for us all. We have to sit down, pay attention, and look like we are having the time of our lives! My sisters and I put our parents through the same thing many years ago. I actually love it.  The boys, not so much.
So on this particular night, they decided that they wanted a part in the "show" and challenged Trinity and Christa to a dance off!
The girls did a sweet little impromptu dance to a high school musical song.
And then the boys came out...
(I should tell you that Michael was not here at the time....and that he didn't really think this was too funny.) I thought it was, though, so here it is. I only put about a minute of it on here to spare you....

Warning, the images you are about to see may be disturbing to some viewers...hee hee

Afterwards, the girls looked at me and said "So we won, right?!"

So, as promised months ago, here is Christian's video! Starting way back in the early 90's. Wow, he sure has grown. I love looking back and remembering each stage in his life. I love the baby stage and I laugh when I think about how I thought then that it would be the hardest stage. I had no idea what having a teenage boy would be like! And, honestly, it really is awesome, but a little overwhelming at times.
I am happy to report that we are letting him drive to school sometimes and have even let him drive his sister and brother on occasion -short distances and you better believe I prayed the entire time. (I was at work, it was a little awkward ☺) I must admit, it has been nice a few times to have him go to the store for me while I was working. There are only so many things I can do in a day! So he is always happy to help out. I wish his car was finished to show you a picture of it. It just has one more day of work and then it will finally be painted and finished! Unfortunately, Michael is very busy this month and they haven't had a day to get it done yet. Hopefully over the break!
Back to the video! This song just seemed to capture everything that I wanted to say to him at this point in his life. The funny thing is that Christian hates country music...but when he heard it, he was ok with it!
If you missed the other two vids, he are the links: Trinity and Dylan

Also...

I received this in the mail a short time ago. Isn't it always nice to hear that other people think your kids are as great as you do!

More Fall Pictures

We have not been home much since Wednesday so I have not had any time to post anything but here are a few pics from last week...I took Christian and Landry to the place where we did family pics and took a few of the two of them. They were great little models..and the day was beautiful. The four of us (Trinity was my assistant because she loves to be wherever Landry is!) must have walked a mile but we had fun and came out with some shots that we liked
Our family Thanksgiving was wonderful...I will upload and  post pics soon!
