"North Texas went to bed Wednesday night expecting a mix of rain and snow the next day, with possible accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.
Instead, we got the Snowstorm of the Century, an official 12.5 inches at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. It not only broke three records, it smashed them to bits, becoming the heaviest snowfall for the date, the heaviest single-day snowfall and the heaviest snowfall in a 24-hour period."
It hasn't happened in over 30 years here, but on Thursday we got 12 inches of beautiful white snow!!!! I woke up that morning to a phone call from my brother in law asking if the kids had school...I had no idea what he was talking about! Why would they not have school? The news had forecasted possible snow but we never really get much and certainly nothing to get excited and miss school over. But I looked outside and was shocked, an inch of pure white covered the ground and it was coming down hard still. The kids did have school but got out early. Not before they had a massive snowball fight with the school and built a 7 foot snowman. This was something that everyone was so excited about. We hurried around to find anything to keep us warm and dry and settled for lots of layers and mismatched gloves. Christian came up with a brilliant idea (he thought) of putting dishwashing gloves over gloves to keep them dry while forming snowballs. It continued to snow all day. We all got home, started a fire and put on some movies! School was already cancelled for the next day.
Then, on Friday morning woke up to even more snow as it had snowed a little more through the night. It was perfect snow. So very cool to watch the kids experience it for the first time! I had some huge cake/cupcake orders (22 dozen and 3 cakes) to work on but I put that on hold to go play. So glad I did, we had so much fun.
Trinity learned that a snowball to the face does NOT feel very good.
PS. I did finish my cupcake/cake orders...at 2 am. Still worth it :)
ALSO....
Michael has started his own blog, go check it out! I am so proud of him....

Wow!! It looks like you guys had so much fun! You got some really great pictures too. It looks so much more white than it did here not only because you had way more snow than us but because there aren't trees right over you like we have.
ReplyDeleteI love the rubber glove idea- so smart! And Dylan looks so much like Sherri in the picture with him holding the dog. We'll be watching Michael's new blog- talk to you soon- JJDHSL
