"With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility..."

I have been working on another cake this weekend, in between working my real jobs! I cannot complain though...all of my jobs are so fun!
This cake was made for a little boy (at heart) who was turning the big 30 today! He spent this past weekend at a comic book convention so it was only fitting that his wife, Ashley, asked me to make a cake with his favorite superhero....Spiderman. Very different from the ones I have done recently but I had a lot of fun with it! Spidey and I are pretty close now.
So, Phillip, welcome to the 30's. The place where all the cool kids are.

Recognize the city? Hee hee

Night at the Drive-In Movie

By Trinity Bray

Last Night we went to a Drive-In Movie and it was fun! Me and Mom sat in the back of our car and we had the top open and we had a lot of blankets. We saw Madagascar 2 and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. We brought some candy and we ate some food there. Then we got some hot Chocolate because we were cold and it was delish! Dylan and Tanner sat out side. I liked the first movie but I fell asleep during the second movie and my mom woke me up when it was over so we could go home. The first movie was really good and funny and it was kinda sad but just a few parts.
Dylan and Tanner got cold so they moved inside with us and they were making weird faces

Tanner looks like a ghost here.

I am going to my Grammy and Pops house today because my Mom and Dad are working so that will be fun and I cant wait!

Dylan Video

I know I promised that I would make a video for the boys like I did for Trinity...and the truth is that I have had them done for quite awhile. The problem is that the song I picked out for Christian's isnt letting me upload on Youtube because of copyrights. I have been trying to think of another one for him but the one I have is so perfect. So, I am still working on hacking my way around it or finding another site to put it up on and will post his as soon as I can. In the meantime, I thought I would post Dylan's. Most of you will be shocked to find out (or remember) that Dylan actually had a chubby stage! Not for long, and nothing major but at least a little chub in those cheeks!
And the cool thing with the boys is their eyes. If you are paying attention, you can watch as their eyes will change from blue to green/hazel right about the time they are 5. Pretty cool!
Dylan is our little creative genius. Another mother once described Dylan as always having a little movie that he is creating going on inside of his head, which is how her son was when he was Dylan's age. For some reason that has stuck with me and I think of it every time he seems like he is not listening to me and off in another world! Because that woman was the mother of one of the most creatively talented adults that I have been fortunate enough to know.  Dylan is always making movies; with his phone, my video camera, the computer, on paper, etc.
Anyways, you probably just want to watch the video.....
Pause the player over on the right because this one has a song of its own.

Edit: As I watched the video on here, I realized that by uploading it into youtube,
the pictures lost a lot of quality so you cant really even see
the color of their eyes .
Oh well, some of you remember!

Election '08

Yesterday was Election Day for our country  as many (or all!) of you know...but it was also an election day for the second grade class at Trinity's school!
We were surprised but excited when she came home a few weeks ago and told us that she had decided to run for President with her friend Christa as her running mate. Several kids decided to run and she had some stiff competition! But early on, she said to me very matter-of-factly "Mom, I dont think I will win, but I still want to run anyways!".  Dylan ran for President (and won!) when he was in second grade also so we knew what to expect.
They did the whole thing:Campaign posters with their very own slogan and a whole week of campaigning in which they passed out buttons, stickers, candy, pencils, etc. On Monday, they all gave speeches (Trinity's was so cute and she had it down!!), and then yesterday they voted. They each received a voter registration card and had it punched when they cast their vote.

They have been studying about this for a few weeks and there is no better way to learn it then to actually go through the process themselves! It made it all make sense to them and explained it to them in a much more relevant way than just reading about it or having your parents explain it.

Well, sadly, Trinity didn't end up winning this year. Actually it was a tie between she and another girl and when they voted again, the other girl ended up winning. But I was so proud of Trinity when she walked up to the girl and said "Congratulations!". She just loved the whole experience of it.  I am so glad she gets those experiences and learns and grows so much from them. We are so proud of her and thankful for the wonderful education they are getting and the awesome teachers that add so much to their lives. I know this other little girl will be a great little president....and not lead their second grade class into moral bankruptcy. Oh, wait.....wrong election.
As we watched the election coverage last night, the kids were just as in the know about what was going on as any adult and were reading the screen and commenting on electoral votes. Trinity knew exactly what was going on and the different offices and was excited that the rest of the country was copying the second grade!
So here are some pics from campaign week of the things she handed out...
These are some Hersheys minis:
And some Tootsie Roll pops:
Some stickers:
And lastly, some bookmarks! Because second graders LOVE to read!
On a side note: Trinity's teacher is having her baby tomorrow and has said that she may name the baby 'Trinity Grace'! Trinity is so excited about that and thinks that would be so cool! I will let you know if she does!

Why Mommy?

"Mommy, why do we have to wear these silly jackets?"
"Because it is cold outside and I do not want you to get sick!"
But really it is because it is just so darn cute and stylish

Party!!

Last night, we went to a Halloween Party at Abe and Eva's house. We had so much fun! They did an awesome job of decorating (down to the dry ice!) and there was way too much wonderful food! I wish I had taken some more pictures of the food, there was some really cute scary stuff! I do have a few pictures....here is the cake I made
And here is the one Emily made.....so cute!
I also didnt get pictures of everyone in their costumes but here are a few....
Pebbles and BamBam aka Michael and I

Dog the Bounty Hunter and Beth aka Richie and Michelle
Ugly Betty and her boss aka Ashley and Phillip

Captain Jack and his pirate bride aka Abe and Eva
McCain/Palin aka Danny and Emily
Us again!
Even the dogs got in on the costumes! (poor Bella, I know!)
Emily planned some fun games! Here are the kids in a relay race to dress up like a scarecrow
and passing the lifesaver with toothpicks

More games!

And just to prove to you that Christian is still a part of our family... (I realize he has not been in many pictures but I assure you  it is only because of his busy social life!!) He had Halloween parties of his own to attend with Landry but they did join us later for some cards. I dont have pictures of them dressed up but they were a firefighter and Dalmatian (you guess who was who! Ha) and if Landry sends me some from her camera, I will post them.
This is about 3 am.........silly things happen
Our poor children cant keep up with their old parents :)
